Our last day in El Romanso – a wonderful place.

We did a guided walk this morning where we saw hummingbirds in the garden

We then walked over the suspension bridge in the forest. The guide was really informative about the different types of trees and how there is both a primary forest in the canyons and the secondary forest which, prior to the 1970s, the land was used for different purposes.
We saw a nest of kites with 3 chicks

He also explained the origin on the name given to the passion flower

The red petals represent the 12 disciples and the stamens form the crown of thorns.
The guide spotted a scaly throated leaf tosser and he took a video of it for me.
We had a lot of information about the leaf cutting ants and the size of the colony was very large and up to two metres deep. They use the leaves to provide food for fungi that grows in the colony on which the ants feed.
After a rest and lunch we walked down to the observation post and, when on route, came across some white faced monkeys

And then a male great curassow and his mate

Then it was happy hour – daiquiri tonight- as we watched the sun go down – very tired.
