We are woken up early each morning by a very noisy dawn chorus- two birds in particular the Great tailed grackle and the montezuma oropendola who have large nests behind our lodge

We had a boat ride into Tortuguero village and heard a lot about its history after which we walked back mainly along the Caribbean beach.
This afternoon we went by boat into the national park – this was amazing. All species are protected.

We managed to see spider monkeys, howler monkeys and a cayman

Also several birds not all of which I can name as well as an iguana

One other interesting fact is that Nick Robinson from BBC is staying here – very friendly
Back for a pina colado
